Multi-ethnic Effort to ‘Pay It Forward’ [Buffalo News]
As the “collaboration among various groups of color under the auspices of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo,” the Culture of Giving Legacy Initiative brings together 20 leaders of color, giving money and time to create a multi-ethnic philanthropic initiative focused on endowment-building.
Campaign Begins to End Prescription Drug Abuse [Buffalo News]
More than 50 community groups - coordinated by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York and including the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, John R. Oishei Foundation, Erie County Council for the Prevention of Alcohol and Substance Abuse, and Horizon Health Services - have launched a major initiative to reduce prescription painkiller abuse, especially among young people.

To celebrate Buffalo’s diversity and unity, 7,000 people are expected to join hands next May along the length of Ferry Street, from the Niagara River to Bailey Avenue. Funding for the event has been provided by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo.
