Gerard Mazurkiewicz Named Chairman of Community Foundation Board of Directors

BUFFALO, NY, February 22, 2013 – Gerard Mazurkiewicz, partner at Dopkins & Company, LLP accounting and consulting firm has been elected chairman of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo’s Board of Directors. The Community Foundation is a public charity dedicated to helping donors make the most of their generosity. For more than 90 years, the Community Foundation has managed endowment funds for individuals, families, and organizations, and is currently home to over 750 named funds.

Mazurkiewicz joined Dopkins & Company, LLP in 2004 after retiring as partner from KPMG, LLP an international tax and accounting firm where he had worked for over 30 years. At the time of his retirement in 2002, he was the partner in charge of the Upstate New York and Albany tax practices of the Firm.

In addition to his charitable work with the Community Foundation, Mazurkiewicz serves as trustee and board member for many other local organizations, including the Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Foundation, the University at Buffalo Foundation, and Hilbert College. He is also the chair of the Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Advisory Council.

Other officers elected to serve on the Community Foundation board include: Bill Joyce, Vice Chair; Marsha Joy Sullivan, Vice Chair; Francisco Vasquez, Ph.D., Vice Chair; Gayle Eagan, Esq., Secretary; and Ross Eckert, Treasurer.

The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo was established in 1919 to enhance and encourage long-term philanthropy in the Western New York community. The Foundation’s mission is: Connecting people, ideas and resources to improve lives in Western New York.
