WYOMING COUNTY, NY, APRIL 1, 2013 -- The Wyoming Foundation, a division of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, is accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations for the 2013 grant cycle. Applications are due May 3, 2013 and are available for submission at www.wyomingfoundation.org.

Since 1977, The Wyoming Foundation has actively supported a wide variety of cultural, educational and human services organizations throughout the county. The Wyoming Foundation became a division of the Community Foundation in fall of 2007 to increase its ability to serve Wyoming County residents.

Originally an important source of resources for the Wyoming County Hospital, the Wyoming Foundation expanded its scope to provide support for the community’s general needs in the late 1980’s and as a result of a recent needs assessment, the Wyoming Foundation will provide funding preference to grant applicants that focus on:

  • Preparing high school graduates for training and education opportunities (leading to jobs in Wyoming County)
  • Increased participation in arts & cultural offerings

For 2013, approximately $15,000.00 is available in grant awards. Individual grants will range from $500.00 to $2,000.00. Wyoming Foundation awards, built by gifts and bequests from numerous individuals and groups, has most recently provided grants to the Perry Public Library, Western New York Rural Area Health Education Center, and Arts Council for Wyoming County.

The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo was established in 1919 to enhance and encourage long-term philanthropy in the Western New York community. The Foundation’s mission is: Connecting people, ideas and resources to improve lives in Western New York.
