The Wyoming Foundation Council Announces New Members and Officers for 2014

Warsaw, NY - The Wyoming Foundation, a division of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, today announced the 2014 council members and officers elected at the December annual retreat and meeting.

“We have an outstanding group of motivated and accomplished individuals on our 2014 council,” said Foundation Council Chair, Scott Gardner. “Each council member provides essential guidance and input, allowing the Wyoming Foundation to serve the donors and clients who generously support a variety of cultural, educational and human services organizations in Wyoming County.”

The 2014 Wyoming Foundation Council includes:


  • Chair: Scott Gardner of Warsaw, brings seven years of experience to the role of the council and was elected to serve a second term as Foundation Chair. Additionally, as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, he remains committed to the residents of Wyoming County. Scott serves on several other community based committees and non-profit boards and is excited to spearhead objectives and initiatives of the Wyoming Foundation.
  • Vice-chair and Secretary: Karen Six from Castile, is committed to the people of Wyoming County. She has worked to develop collaborative efforts among agencies to benefit residents across the County for many years. As a member of the Wyoming Foundation Council, Karen will work to build partnerships that lead to initiatives and projects that strengthen the community.
  • Treasurer: Laura Lane was born and raised in Wyoming County. Following college Laura lived downstate and returned to the area eight years ago. She is deeply committed to improving the quality of life for residents and businesses in Wyoming County. Laura’s career has been centered in the non-profit arena bringing valuable knowledge and experience to the Council.

Newly Appointed Council Members:

  • Barbara Dominesey a resident of Varysburg, is the General Manager of Hidden Valley Animal Adventure, LLC. A recent Leadership Wyoming program graduate, Barbara’s ultimate goal is to improve the lives of County residents. As a council member, Barbara will bring her interest and knowledge in leadership, business, finance, and education to advance the work of the Foundation.
  • Eric Szucs of Arcade is a lifelong resident of Wyoming County. He is the Proposal Manager for Sallie Mae and is based out of the Pioneer Credit Recovery, Inc. facility. Eric is a 2012 Leadership Wyoming graduate and has expanded his volunteerism footprint within the County to include the Wyoming Foundation and the Leadership Wyoming Committee.

  • Joan Mokdessi of Silver Springs

The Wyoming Foundation was established in 1974 by Dr. James MacCallum as a means to improve the quality of life of residents in the County. Since 1977, the Wyoming Foundation has actively supported a wide variety of cultural, educational and human services organizations.

In 2007, the Wyoming Foundation joined forces with the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo in order to expand its capacity and philanthropic scope to better serve Wyoming County residents. As a result of this partnership, the dedicated volunteer leaders of the Wyoming Foundation are able to concentrate on responding to the current and emerging needs of the County.
