The Community Foundation Hires Gerald Reger as CFO/CAO

Buffalo, NY - The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, a 501 ©(3) public charity dedicated to helping clients make the most of their generosity, recently created the new position of Chief Financial Officer/Chief Administrative Officer and hired 30-year public accounting industry veteran, Gerald Reger, CPA.

The CFO/CAO position was established to ensure that the Community Foundation remains effective in its ever-expanding leadership role in Western New York. Reger will lead and oversee finance, investments and operations, including: talent management, enterprise risk management, technology, business process management and facilities.

“As the needs of Western New York change, and our clients’ charitable interests expand across the globe, Jerry will help ensure that the Community Foundation continues to maximize our clients’ charitable assets and carry on their legacies according to their wishes forever” said Clotilde Dedecker, President/CEO of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo. “Additionally, his expertise in the not-for-profit and financial sectors allow us to continue to effectively leverage resources to drive change in Western New York through collaborative public/private partnerships.”

Prior to joining the Community Foundation, Reger spent 28 years providing accounting, auditing and operational services to many of the area’s largest not-for-profits, as well as organizations across New York State.

Reger is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the New York State Society of CPAs and is a member of the Buffalo Chapter Not-for-Profit Committee. He sits on the Board of the American Red Cross Regional Chapter, serving the Finger Lakes and Western New York regions, and co-chairs its Finance Committee. Reger is a frequent speaker on the not-for-profit sector across Western New York.

Reger graduated from the University at Buffalo with a B.S. in Business Administration and concentrations in Accounting and Finance. He and his wife Karen live in Hamburg and have three sons: Patrick, Christopher and Matthew.
