Buffalo, NY – The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo on behalf of the Oliver G. & Sarah Sloan Bauman Fund for the Arts today announced awards of over $38,000 to six Western New York nonprofit organizations for its 2015 granting cycle. Bauman Fund for the Arts administers grants annually to Western New York organizations that specialize in the arts and cultural sectors.

The 2015 Oliver G. & Sarah Sloan Bauman Fund for the Arts grant recipients include:

  • Ballet Artists of WNY, Inc. dba Neglia Ballet
  • Buffalo Opera Unlimited
  • Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra
  • Gowanda’s Historic Hollywood Theater
  • Nickel City Opera
  • Opera Sacra

The Bauman Fund for the Arts was established in 1996 by Sarah Bauman Baxter as a unique way to memorialize her father, Oliver Bauman. Mrs. Baxter and her father shared a love of the classics, including classical languages, ballet and opera. At the end of her life she translated that love into this bequest to provide funding support to Western New York organizations that focus on the performance of “traditional, classical ballet and opera on the living stage.”

Since 2010, the Oliver G. & Sarah Sloan Bauman Fund for the Arts has awarded more than $200,000 to Western New York nonprofit organizations for the benefit of the region’s arts and cultural communities.
