Community Foundation President Named as Only Board Member from North America for Global Fund

Buffalo, NY/Johannesburg, South Africa – Global Fund for Community Foundations (GFCF) has appointed Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo President and CEO, Clotilde Perez-Bode Dedecker to its board of directors. The GFCF board is currently made up of individuals hailing from Africa, Asia, Europe and North America who are highly experienced in the field of community philanthropy and social development. The GFCF board is responsible for guiding its programs and operations to increase community giving worldwide. Currently, the GFCF has a network of over 100 community philanthropy institutions from around the globe. Since the organizations inception in 2006, the GFCF has awarded grants in 52 countries.

The GFCF works to promote and support institutions of community philanthropy around the world. The global organization partners with individual community foundations and other local grantmakers and their networks to fulfill their potential as vehicles for local development, and as part of the infrastructure for sustainable development.

On behalf of its clients, the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo has taken a leadership role to engage in cross-sector solutions and bring together the resources needed to build a stronger community with opportunity for all. As a champion for the region, the Community Foundation continues to build relationships outside of Western New York to attract national funds, collaborate with other community foundations and organizations, and engage in shared learning opportunities to support its work. Since its inception, the Community Foundation has attracted more than $35 million in funding from outside of Western New York to invest in the region.

Dedecker is a nationally-recognized spokesperson on a range of issues including collaborative philanthropy and public-private partnership. Currently, she serves as board member for several national organizations and institutions including:

  • The Executives’ Alliance – A national alliance of foundation executives focused on advancing life outcomes for boys and young men of color.
  • The Foundation Center – The leading source of information about philanthropy worldwide, which provides data, analysis and training to connect people with the resources needed for effective systems change.
  • CFLeads (Community Foundations Leading Change) – CFLeads helps community foundations advance the practice of community leadership to build thriving communities.
  • FSGFSG supports leaders in creating large-scale, lasting social change by identifying ways to maximize the impact of existing resources, and amplifying the work of others to help advance knowledge and practice.
