Community Foundation Accepting Scholarship Applications; Students are Invited to Apply by March 1

The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo’s scholarship application for the 2016 – 2017 academic year is now available online. Requirements and application instructions can be found at www.cfgb.org/for-scholarships/. Applications are due March 1, 2016.

To be eligible, applicants must be a current resident of one of the eight counties of Western New York, have a minimum of a “C” average or a GPA of 2.0 or greater, and be admitted to a nonprofit 501©(3), U.S. Department of Education accredited school for full-time study. All students in Western New York, including Say Yes Buffalo applicants and scholars, that meet these eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply. Scholarship awards typically range from $1,000 – $6,000.

Since 1924, over 200 individuals, families, foundations, and organizations have established scholarship funds through the Community Foundation to support students in Western New York. In 2015, the Community Foundation awarded scholarships to more than 800 Western New York students totaling over $1.9 million, making the Foundation one of the largest scholarship providers in the region.
