The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo hosted three leaders from the Mexican philanthropic community for a two-day learning exchange that focused on the Foundation’s model of philanthropy and the impact it has in Western New York. The dialogue with Mexican philanthropic leaders, David Perez Rulfo, Michael Layton and Agustin Landa Garcia Tellez focused on strengthening the community foundations in Mexico and throughout Latin America, as well as determining how to build connections with the Latino community in the United States.

After the learning exchange, David, Michael and Agustin attended a Say Yes Buffalo event to learn more about public-private-philanthropic partnerships and to see the power of collaboration in action.

On Friday, July 22nd, the Community Foundation hosted a larger conversation with the C.S. Mott Foundation, the Inter-American Foundation and CFLeads around strengthening relationships between community foundations throughout the Americas.

The Community Foundation is honored to be considered a model for other community foundations looking to make a significant local impact. The Western New York area is on the rise and conversations like these put the region on the map as an example of how philanthropy and cross-sector collaboration can help communities thrive.
