An Evening with Angela Brown

Angela Brown

The CGLI was formally introduced to the public in March 2010, with a signature event featuring Metropolitan Opera soprano and philanthropist, Angela Brown. The two-part event profiled the CGLI’s goal creating access to new experiences for low-income youth of color.

Ms. Brown performed her one-woman show, “Opera from a Sistah’s Point of View,” for 2,400 Buffalo School students. Through lively commentary, Ms. Brown helped the young audience meet legendary characters from famous operas and understand the various plots and sub-plots with show stopping arias, poignant songs and moving spirituals.

Ms. Brown also featured in a special fundraising evening reception for CGLI donors.
