Buffalo, NY — The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo announced that its scholarship application for the 2015 – 2016 school year is now available online. Applying is simple, only requiring a one-time application submission. Requirements and application instructions are available on the Community Foundation’s website with all submissions due March 1, 2015.

Through the generosity of its clients, the Community Foundation has awarded scholarships to students from the eight counties of Western New York since 1924. With nearly 200 endowed scholarship funds established at the Community Foundation, scholarship awards range from approximately $1,000 - $6,000 and are granted based on client request. In 2014, the Community Foundation gave awards totaling over $1.7 million to more than 650 Western New York students.

“Many students tell us their scholarship award is what makes a difference between being able to attend post-secondary schools and not,“ said Clotilde Perez-Bode Dedecker, President and CEO of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo. “The Community Foundation is honored that it is entrusted to maximize the generosity of the individuals, families, foundations and organizations that established funds with us. By doing so, our donors’ investments in scholarships will go further with access to a larger applicant pool and easier access to resources for students to pursue their dreams.”

To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must: be a current resident of one of the eight counties of Western New York; have a minimum of a “C” average or a GPA of 2.0 or greater; and be admitted to a nonprofit [501(c)3], U.S. Department of Education accredited school for full time study. Say Yes Buffalo applicants and scholars are eligible to apply.

A limited number of scholarships are also available for graduate students in specialized fields including: architecture; arts; engineering; medicine; nursing; piano; environment; and wildlife.
