How does the 21st Century Fund work?Every other year, area nonprofits are invited to submit a grant application to support a high-impact project. Projects vary greatly, ranging from architectural restoration to the creation of urban farms. The nonprofits compete for one large grant, usually $100,000. Members of the 21st Century Fund's review committee selects applicants to make presentations to the full membership at the “Presentation Event.” Fund Members then vote to identify four finalists at this event. Finalists are paired with local public relations firms that assist each nonprofit with a presentation for the “Final Vote Event.” At the Final Vote Event, members vote to choose the grant award winner.
