Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo

Community Goal: Improve educational achievement for students living in low-income households

The Community Foundation believes that the prosperity of the Western New York region relies on a well-educated workforce. Too often, children in low-income communities lack access to quality education and sufficient educational resources that enable them to reach their full potential. Individuals with degrees beyond high school are more likely to be employed and less likely to live in poverty. Therefore, the Community Foundation works to improve systems for education to better prepare all students to succeed in adulthood. This work includes ensuring that young children entering school are prepared to learn and have opportunities to further their education as well as proactively addressing barriers to postsecondary completion (financial, social/emotional, health and academic).
