Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo

Fund for the Arts

The Western New York region has a rich and diverse history of architecture, arts and cultural organizations including a wealth of visual and performing arts groups. However, in recent years, many of our cultural resources have been challenged by the local economy and continued decline in government funding.

In 2005, a group of funders came together, representing public, private, family and corporate foundations, to join forces to make a greater impact together. This group became known as the Fund for the Arts (FFA).

Since its founding, the FFA has channeled millions of dollars to art organizations in our community. The Community Foundation has served as the administrator and convener for the FFA by hosting member meetings, liaising between grantees and FFA members, stewarding the FFA fund, and managing the grant reporting process.
