Digital Communications Coordinator

The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo (Foundation) is seeking to hire a Digital Communications Coordinator.

JOB SUMMARY

The Digital Communications Coordinator is part of a fast-paced, versatile team and is primarily responsible for developing, coordinating and executing digital communications projects, including but not limited to: social media posts/pages (Facebook and LinkedIn), emails using Mailchimp and websites using WordPress, as well as reporting on analytics for all. The ideal candidate has proven experience in professionally executing a successful digital strategy through creative and engaging social media posts, emails and websites, and demonstrates an ongoing understanding of and zeal for the mission and vision of the Community Foundation.

The ideal candidate is a person who is eager to take on new challenges and explore digital media in technologically advancing communications platforms. This person exemplifies innovation for digital communications and moves with ease when posing a group of people for a photo, writing a creative caption for a post, designing unique graphics, suggesting and implementing new ideas to enhance the website, and supporting the team wherever needed to move all communications forward.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Social media- Develops content, including video posts, for multiple Facebook and LinkedIn pages; engages with other users and responds to comments/messages; proactively manages content calendars for multiple initiatives; leads initiative-specific content meetings with team leaders across the organization and creatively implements ideas resulting from those meetings
  • Mailchimp emails- Drafts/builds engaging and compelling emails, including e-newsletters, in Mailchimp; manages/updates email lists; coordinates approvals and sends emails though Mailchimp
  • Website- Updates multiple websites through WordPress which includes keeping news stories current, adding/deleting timely content, incorporating photos and videos, and weekly maintenance
  • Content collection- responsible for photography and basic (phone) video at meetings, events, etc. to be used for various communications including social media, emails and website; downloads and organizes incoming content through online storytelling software; develops stories/social media posts based on submissions
  • Graphic design- Creates graphics for social media posts, Mailchimp emails and website using Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva
  • Manages domain and hosting registrations and renewals for all Community Foundation websites
  • Analytics/reporting on websites and social media: leads quarterly meetings with Communications team to report on results and discuss/document new strategies/tactics based on results; regularly updates social media tracker documents
  • Tracks news stories; creates quarterly news reports to share with stakeholders and Board members
  • Attends all major events for key audiences and supports with both digital communications and general support, including set up/clean up, picking up supplies, serving as point person for vendors at venues, etc.
  • Supports the Communications team administratively as needed, including but not limited to: printing materials, scheduling and preparing documents for meetings, taking meeting notes, preparing physical mailings and research

  • Demonstrates experience with prioritizing work when committed to multiple projects simultaneously; demonstrates effective time management as well as skill with managing shifting deadlines to reprioritize as needed.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

TRAVEL

  • Generally, travel is primarily within the eight counties of Western New York. Some domestic travel may be required for job training and professional development.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE/EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exhibits excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Possesses video (phone) and video editing, photography and graphic design skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or related field
  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in marketing/communications field including managing professional social media page(s), updating websites in WordPress, and designing/sending emails through Mailchimp or similar platform, including list management
  • Takes a proactive leadership role when capturing photos and videos
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience with project management software (Teamwork, Basecamp, Asana, etc.) a plus

Salary Range: $24 – $28 / hr
