Joseph Hoffman

National Make a Will Month

This National Make a Will Month, we are inspired by our clients, like Joseph Hoffman, who are part of our Legacy Society and have committed to supporting the Community Foundation in the future through a planned gift.

Joseph Hoffman and his wife Patricia had been thinking about setting up a bequest for years. After his wife passed in 2023, Joe decided to finally carry it out. After thorough research, he was confident that meant working with the Community Foundation.

“I was revising our estate plans and the first thing I had to do was find an estate attorney,” Joe said. “To do that, I researched on the Community Foundation website some of the advisors that the Community Foundation works with and that’s where I first came across Fenster Lewis and Good. I decided to work with them because I thought it would be easy if they were familiar with the Community Foundation’s work.”

Joe knew that he wanted to support organizations focused on education, arts and culture; causes meaningful to both him and his late wife. He also knew that he wanted to pass it on to the community in a way that would allow him to remain personally involved.

He appreciates knowing that the Community Foundation will carry out their charitable wishes forever. “It’s wonderful that the Community Foundation will still be here when I’m gone, researching organizations in the areas of interest that we designated and make appropriate grants for us. I’m glad that they can do this on our behalf,” he said. “And it’s just exciting to be part of the legacy of the Community Foundation.”
