The William F. Thiel Trust, a fund at the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, recently awarded grants totaling more than $187,000 to six Wyoming County nonprofit organizations supporting health needs for the 2025 grant cycle.
The nonprofit organizations receiving grants from the William F. Thiel Trust are as follows:

The William F. Thiel Trust grant process prioritizes applications for issues strategically identified in the Wyoming County Health Needs Assessment. Since the Community Foundation commissioned the first Assessment in 2006, the William F. Thiel Trust has distributed more than $4.8 million in grants to healthcare organizations that serve Wyoming County residents. The Community Foundation updates the Assessment every five years with the last major revision in 2023.  The newest Assessment incorporated the Social Determinants of Health, local, state and national healthcare trends, and survey feedback from county citizens and stakeholders in order to decide what the highest funding priorities will be through 2028.
William F. Thiel was a longtime philanthropist in the Wyoming County area. In 1974, Mr. Thiel left a significant legacy to the residents of Wyoming County through the creation of the William F. Thiel Trust at the Community Foundation. Today, Mr. Thiel’s generosity continues to support the health needs of Wyoming County residents.
