The Western New York Great Lakes Restoration Grant

The Western New York Great Lakes Restoration Grant Program will support projects that address invasive species control, habitat restoration, or stormwater runoff reduction within Niagara River/Lake Erie watershed communities. Grant funding ranges from $25,000 through $500,000.

Timeline

  • Monday, March 16, 2026: Process opens
  • 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026: Information Session
  • 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026: Application due, no exceptions
  • Monday, June 1, 2026: Letter of Intent decision notifications to successful applicants

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be located in or serving one of the eight counties of Western New York: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming.
  • Grants are awarded only to organizations that have current Section 501(c)(3) status as determined by the Internal Revenue Service.

  • An informational webinar will be held via Zoom at 11:00 a.m. ET on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
  • Click here to register. A recording will be published no later than Monday, March 30, 2026.
