Introduction
The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo holds over 750 funds and is one of the Western New York region’s largest grantmakers. Last year, the Foundation and its donors awarded $8 million to the community.
The Foundation currently manages grant opportunities as follows:
- Community Foundation Competitive Grants are open to nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations operating within the eight counties of Western New York that focus efforts in one of the following areas:
- Improve educational achievement for low-income students
- Increase racial/ethnic equity
- Enhance and leverage significant natural resources
- Strengthen the region as a center for architecture, arts & culture
- Niagara Area Foundation Grants are open to nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations dedicated toward positive youth development in Niagara County.
- Wyoming Foundation Grants are open to nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations serving needs in Wyoming County.
- Oliver G. & Sarah Sloan Bauman Fund for the Arts Competitive Grants are open to nonprofit 501(c)3 arts and cultural organizations.
- Josephine Goodyear Foundation Grants are open to nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations that serve indigent women and children in WNY.
- J. Warren Perry and Charles Donald Perry Memorial Fund Grants are open to a specific group of nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations that are invited to apply for support on an annual basis.
- William F. Thiel Grants are open to nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations serving the healthcare needs of residents of Wyoming County.
- 21st Century Fund Grants are open to nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations operating within the eight counties of Western New York.
