Buffalo, N.Y. – The Communities of Giving Legacy Initiative (CGLI), an initiative of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo that focuses on cultivating positive change in the lives of trailblazing youth of color, announced awards totaling $30,000 to four Western New York nonprofit organizations through a one-time competitive grant process. Funding for the grants was made possible through the generosity of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. These grants have been awarded to area nonprofits that support the Buffalo community most directly impacted by the horrific racially-motivated mass shooting that occurred on May 14, 2022, and serve youth ages 10 to 17 in the 14208 and/or 14209 zip codes within the City of Buffalo. Preference was given to Black-led 501©(3) organizations.
The Communities of Giving Legacy Initiative one-time Competitive Grants recipients are:
- Back to Basics Outreach Ministries, Inc. – $9,000
- Buffalo Inner City Ballet – $3,000
- Home Beneath Our Feet, Inc. – $9,000
- SOLID Foundation Prep, Inc. – $9,000
