Application Process Open for Community Foundation’s 21st Century Fund $100,000 Grant

Buffalo, N.Y. – The 21st Century Fund, a fund and giving circle of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, is now accepting applications from nonprofit organizations for its 2023-2024 grant cycle through Dec. 4, 2023 at 4 p.m. Additionally, prospective applicants are invited to attend a virtual applicant briefing on Oct. 5, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Details and application information, including the link to apply online, can be found at http://www.cfgb.org/nonprofits/grants/21st-century-fund/

A group of selected applicants with high-impact projects will be invited to present at a virtual event in March 2024, where 21st Century Fund members will learn about the projects and vote to narrow the pool down to a group of finalists. In April 2024, the finalists will present at a second event where members will vote and a $100,000 grant will be given out live on stage that evening. The Fund has awarded more than $1 million since its inception in 2000.

In the 2022 process, 21st Century Fund members chose to award the grant to Mercy Flight to implement an Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) approach system across Western New York. The grant was used for a lifesaving air ambulance enhancement that allows its helicopter air ambulances to provide lifesaving transportation even in inclement weather by relying on instrument readings rather than solely on visual cues, thereby decreasing travel time and increasing positive patient outcomes. This project installed IFR approach systems at four strategic locations – Wyoming County Community Hospital (Warsaw), Olean General Hospital (Olean), Bertrand Chaffee Hospital (Springville), and Medina Memorial Hospital (Medina).

The 21st Century Fund is unique in that the members pay a one-time fee to join and every two years come together and vote to award a grant for a project that they feel will have a meaningful impact in Western New York. The Fund is always accepting new members and you can join as an individual, family, business, or organization. Learn more at www.21stCenturyFund.org.
