Leading the Way to a Better WNY
Many clients establish funds to address the changing needs of our community over time. The Community Foundation uses these funds to tackle those critical issues where change is needed most to improve the lives of many. Others donate annually to allow the Community Foundation flexibility in addressing our community's most pressing needs, while simultaneously enhancing our ability to capitalize on unique opportunities.
Currently, these strategic dollars are making great strides to reduce the number of children affected by lead poisoning, increase literacy among our region’s children, restore and preserve our natural resources and make our cultural organizations stronger.

Recently, two leaders in the field of philanthropy highlighted the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo’s leadership work as examples of best practices.
The Lumina Foundation's Focus magazine showcases our commitment to educational attainment, specifically under the banner of "Say Yes to Education." Within the publication, the Community Foundation, as well as other key partners and individuals, are acknowledged for their efforts to address the financial, academic, health, and social/emotional barriers to educational attainment for thousands of Buffalo Public School students.
The Democracy Collaborative highlighted the Community Foundation's success in building community wealth and creating partnerships among public and private organizations through its Green & Healthy Homes Initiative.
